The Los Angeles Lakers appeal to the NBA to overturn Luka Doncic's 16th technical foul from their 105-104 win over the Dallas Mavericks. This foul, called late in the third quarter, puts Doncic at risk of a one-game suspension for the upcoming matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Tensions flared when Doncic and Orlando Magic center Goga Bitadze exchanged heated words during a free throw attempt. Doncic claims Bitadze made derogatory remarks about his family, prompting his response. Bitadze counters, stating Doncic initiated the exchanges in Serbian. He respects Doncic and insists he only echoed the insults. The Lakers argue that officials should have issued a warning instead of the technical fouls. Crew chief Marc Davis states that both players were warned to stop their taunting prior to the call. The outcome of the appeal remains to be seen.
