Breece Hall is set to receive the franchise tag from the New York Jets, significantly impacting the running back free-agent market. Hall can sign a one-year deal worth $14.293 million or negotiate a long-term contract with New York. He can still engage with other teams, but any offer sheet would require that team to forfeit two first-round picks if the Jets refuse to match. General manager Darren Mougey hinted at this decision during the combine. A transition tag would have allowed Hall to sign for $11.323 million. Hall ranks as the second-best running back in FOX Sports' top 100 NFL free agents, following Kenneth Walker III, and is 12th overall. Last season, he rushed for 1,065 yards, averaging 4.4 yards per carry, with five total touchdowns. Teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to place franchise tags on pending free agents.
