George Pickens sits out the Dallas Cowboys' voluntary offseason practices, but coach Brian Schottenheimer reassures fans of good communication. Expect insights into the team's strategy for the upcoming season.
Pickens, who recently signed a one-year franchise tag worth $27.3 million, is currently focused on personal commitments. Schottenheimer confirms, “He’s got a football camp this weekend that he's doing.” While it’s voluntary, the Pro Bowler isn’t required to join until the mandatory minicamp from June 16-18.
After joining the Cowboys from Pittsburgh last season, Pickens shined with career highs of 93 catches, 1,429 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns, solidifying his place in one of the NFL's top offenses. The Cowboys have no plans to trade him, as clarified by the organization, including owner Jerry Jones, who speaks of long-term intentions for Pickens.
Meanwhile, CeeDee Lamb, entering the second year of his $136 million contract, continues to develop chemistry with quarterback Dak Prescott. Schottenheimer emphasizes this ongoing relationship, noting that Dak works diligently with all receivers, whether in the offseason or during summer training sessions. The Cowboys remain focused on building a cohesive unit as they prepare for the upcoming season.
