Fernando Mendoza is poised to become the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, with the Las Vegas Raiders showing strong interest. At the NFL Combine, Mendoza shared that his interview with the Raiders went "fantastic." The Indiana quarterback acknowledges the unpredictability of the draft but remains grateful for any opportunity. "There’d be no hard feelings," he stated when asked about teams that might not draft him first.
Mendoza’s journey is remarkable. Ranked as the 140th quarterback coming out of high school in 2022, he describes himself as a "raw prospect" who was "terrible." He fought for recognition, attending numerous camps and ultimately receiving offers from Yale and California. Mendoza's detail-oriented mindset and passion for football set him apart as he prepares for the next level. He even spoke briefly with Raiders part-owner Tom Brady, hoping for a future meeting.
