George Pickens is a top candidate for the franchise tag this offseason, but he might skip the Dallas Cowboys' offseason program if tagged. The Dallas Morning News reports he could hold out. Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones insists Pickens must report, stating, "We always want guys here." The franchise tag window opened last week, with a deadline of March 3 for the Cowboys to decide. The expectation is to tag Pickens, but a trade is also possible. If tagged, the one-year contract is valued at roughly $28.8 million, fully guaranteed. Pickens can also sign an offer sheet with another team, giving the Cowboys a chance to match or receive two first-round picks. Coming off a breakout 2025 season, Pickens ranks as one of the top free agents, sitting at No. 1 on FOX Sports' list. NFL free agency opens on March 9.
