Minkah Fitzpatrick is traded to the New York Jets for a seventh-round pick. This marks Fitzpatrick's second trade in as many offseasons. After moving from the Steelers to the Dolphins last year, the New Jersey native returns home. A three-time first-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler, Fitzpatrick enters the final year of his four-year, $73 million contract. He also secures a three-year, $40 million extension with the Jets. Fitzpatrick, a St. Peter’s Prep alum and Alabama standout, played 14 games for Miami last season, ending a streak of three consecutive Pro Bowl selections. This trade coincides with the Dolphins planning to release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was set to impact the salary cap by $56 million this season. Miami is in transition, having fired general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel, while hiring Jeff Hafley as the new head coach.
