Sam Darnold credits his early career struggles with the New York Jets for his success as quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks. In an interview with FOX Sports' Colin Cowherd, Darnold reflects on the doubts he faced during those tough times. "I had great teammates and great coaches that believed in me," he says. Drafted second overall by the Jets in 2018, Darnold logged a disappointing 13-25 record over three seasons, with a completion percentage below 60% and a 45-to-39 touchdown-to-interception ratio. After stints with the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings, he joined the Seahawks in March 2025 on a three-year, $100.5 million contract. Last season, he completed 67.7% of his passes for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, leading the Seahawks to a 14-3 record and a Super Bowl LX victory. Darnold maintains strong ties with his former Jets teammates.
