Deshaun Watson shifts his focus to reclaiming the Browns' starting QB position, dismissing public perception as he prepares for a comeback. Here’s why Watson’s determination to win back his spot can reshape the Browns' future.

Watson, a 10-year veteran, understands he can't control how fans view him or the disappointing results of his first four seasons in Cleveland. After two Achilles tears and a long recovery, he aims to prove himself on the field. "I can’t focus on what the outside is saying," Watson stated during a press conference, his first in nearly two years.

His last game was in Week 7 of the 2024 season, and if he starts on September 13 against Jacksonville, it will mark 693 days since he last took the field. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam acknowledged the hefty price paid for Watson, including three first-round picks and a fully guaranteed $230 million deal. Despite past struggles, Watson remains optimistic about his relationship with the front office.

During offseason workouts, Watson and Shedeur Sanders appear neck-and-neck in performance. Coach Todd Monken initially hoped to name a starter before training camp but acknowledges both quarterbacks have earned the chance to compete. Watson appreciates Monken's system, which mirrors his experience in Houston, giving him the confidence to thrive.
