Brett Kulak is traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Colorado Avalanche for Samuel Girard and a 2028 second-round pick. This marks Kulak's third team in three months. He started the season with the Edmonton Oilers before moving to Pittsburgh, where he scored one goal and tallied seven points in 25 games. The Penguins sit second in the Metropolitan Division as they push for their first playoff appearance since the 2021-22 season. Kulak now joins an Avalanche squad leading the NHL with 83 points, aiming for their second Stanley Cup since 2022. Kulak, 32, is in the final year of a four-year, $2.75 million contract.
