Ilitch Sports + Entertainment launches Detroit SportsNet, a new regional sports network for broadcasting games of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. The announcement comes as the Tigers gear up for the current season, while Red Wings games will air next season. Detroit SportsNet will be available on cable, satellite, and in-market streaming. Last month, the Tigers revealed their local broadcasts would be produced by Major League Baseball this season, along with Red Wings games. Red Wings games will continue to air on Sports Detroit through the end of the current season. The move follows the termination of the Tigers' deal with Main Street Sports Group after missed rights payments. This strategic shift reflects broader changes as professional sports teams seek new broadcasting options.
