Calgary, Edmonton, and Prague are set to host the World Cup of Hockey in February 2028. Scotia Place, the future home of the Calgary Flames, and Rogers Place, home of the Edmonton Oilers, will serve as North American venues. The O2 Arena in Prague will represent Europe. Each city hosts seven games, including six round-robin matches and one elimination game. Semifinals and the final take place in Edmonton. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman emphasizes the excitement of hockey’s best competing internationally. The NHL and NHLPA are committed to revitalizing international play, especially after the absence of NHL players in the Olympics since 2014 and the last World Cup in 2016. The World Cup of Hockey, established in 1996, previously featured eight teams, with the U.S. winning the inaugural tournament and Canada clinching titles in 2004 and 2016.
