Max Plante, a standout forward from Minnesota Duluth, clinches the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top college hockey player. This victory marks a significant achievement for both Plante and the Bulldogs.

Stay tuned to discover how this award could impact his future and the team's prospects.

Plante, a 20-year-old Detroit Red Wings prospect, outperformed competitors like Denver's Eric Pohlkamp and Michigan's T.J. Hughes to secure the prestigious honor. With an impressive season, Plante finished second nationally with 25 goals and third with 52 points. His performance peaked during a five-game point streak, even as the Bulldogs fell to Michigan in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals.

Looking ahead, Plante plans to return to Minnesota Duluth next season, joining his brothers on the ice. Older brother Zam, a Penguins draft pick, and younger brother Victor, committed to the Bulldogs, fuel Plante’s ambitions. “Having the chance to play with two brothers at that level is a huge motivator,” he stated, expressing his desire to chase a national championship.

With this accolade, Plante becomes Minnesota Duluth’s seventh recipient of the Hobey Baker Award, solidifying his place in college hockey history.
