Roope Hintz, the Dallas Stars' top-line center, will miss the playoff opener due to a setback in his recovery from a lower-body injury. This news shifts the narrative as the Stars prepare for their postseason showdown against the Minnesota Wild.
Coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed the situation, stating, “We thought we could have him maybe for the beginning of the series, and it doesn't look that way.” Hintz has been sidelined since March 6 after suffering the injury in a game against Colorado. The Stars, seeded No. 2 in the Central Division, face a critical moment without one of their key players.
On a brighter note, Miro Heiskanen, the Stars' top defenseman, is showing signs of improvement. Gulutzan expressed optimism about Heiskanen's return, saying, “He's getting better, but it's kind of day to day right now.” Heiskanen has missed the last two games following a lower-body injury sustained on April 9 against Minnesota.
Additionally, center Sam Steel is set to return against the Buffalo Sabres, marking his first appearance in nine games due to an undisclosed injury. This comes after Radek Faksa's return, who had been out for 24 games with various injuries. The Stars are navigating a challenging roster as the playoffs approach.
