Oliver Solberg finishes fourth at WRC Rally Sweden, admitting he didn’t deserve more. The Toyota driver struggled with road conditions after opening the rally with a stage win. An off-road incident in stage three cost him 30 seconds and dropped him to sixth. Despite a recovery to fourth, Solberg battles for confidence on the tricky snow-covered stages.
He reflects on high expectations following his Monte Carlo victory, stating, “This weekend was a good learning curve.” Solberg acknowledges the challenges of being first on the road, noting, “I didn’t expect it to be that difficult.”
He leaves Sweden with 17 points, sitting 13 points behind championship leader and teammate Elfyn Evans. Solberg eyes the next challenge at Safari Rally Kenya, scheduled for March 12-15, where reigning world champion Sebastien Ogier returns to the series.
