Marc Cucurella is poised to leave Chelsea as the club faces a potential exodus of up to nine players. Here’s why this could reshape Chelsea’s future under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Alonso takes the reins at Stamford Bridge with a hefty task ahead after Chelsea's disappointing tenth-place finish in the Premier League, which cost them European qualification. With the pressure to balance the books, major roster changes are on the horizon. Cucurella, frustrated by the club’s recent performances and recruitment strategies, has expressed his desire to depart. The Athletic reports that he has interest from multiple clubs and is willing to move on after a challenging season.
Chelsea remains calm about Cucurella's situation, given he has three years left on his contract. However, they won’t block a departure if an acceptable offer arrives. Alongside Cucurella, midfielder Enzo Fernandez is also eyeing an exit, attracting attention from Real Madrid. Other potential departures include Liam Delap, Alejandro Garnacho, Benoit Badiashile, and Tyrique George, with Chelsea reportedly demanding around £120 million for Fernandez.
As Alonso navigates these changes, Chelsea's summer could significantly alter their trajectory for the upcoming season.
