Declan Rice feels "shattered" amid a growing trust issue with Mikel Arteta, as calls intensify for the Arsenal manager to reconsider his lineup. This could impact Arsenal's chances as they push for a Champions League final appearance.
Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday showcased Rice as one of the standout players, yet pundit Gabby Agbonlahor highlighted the general fatigue within the squad. Arsenal has played 57 games this season, while their upcoming opponent, Fulham, has only played 41. Agbonlahor expressed concern that this fatigue could derail Arsenal’s trophy ambitions, noting that Rice appears exhausted.
Despite the pressing need for fresh legs, Arteta has kept £15m summer signing Christian Norgaard on the sidelines, raising eyebrows. Norgaard, who captained Brentford, has barely featured this season, with only 56 minutes in the Premier League.
Compounding these issues, there are calls for Martin Odegaard to be stripped of the captaincy after his lackluster performance in the Champions League semi-final. Jamie O’Hara emphasized that Odegaard's recent form could lead to him losing his place as a key player for Arsenal, suggesting the team may need to find a new talisman.
