Newcastle United faces a colossal loss as they look to offload Yoane Wissa after a disappointing stint. This decision could reshape their transfer strategy moving forward.

Newcastle initially splurged £55 million on Wissa during the last summer window, desperate to replace Alexander Isak. Despite his impressive 19-goal season with Brentford, the hefty price tag now appears excessive. Wissa has struggled to make an impact at St. James’ Park, netting only three goals in 24 appearances and falling out of favor with manager Eddie Howe. He has started just one of the last 16 matches and remained on the bench for five of the last nine league games.

Now, The Athletic reports Newcastle is ready to sell Wissa for around £30 million, nearly half of what they paid. A 25% sell-on clause means Brentford would receive £7.5 million from any sale, leaving Newcastle with just £22.5 million.

Interest is brewing, with multiple Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring Wissa's situation. Furthermore, Newcastle’s owners have communicated his availability to Saudi Arabian teams, indicating a strong possibility of a summer move to the Saudi Pro League. Newcastle is eager to move on from this transfer blunder, willing to sell to a rival if necessary.
