Thirty-nine UK Solos and nine elite Dutch sailors converge in Quiberon, France, for the 26th Green and Gates Nation's Cup. This event is crucial as it showcases top-tier sailing talent in a stunning location, and the outcome could reshape the competitive landscape for the season.

The event, hosted by ENVSN, follows successful regattas for the 49er and Nacra classes, highlighting Quiberon’s diverse sailing conditions. Competitors have settled into the area, with many choosing well-appointed static homes near the beach. Despite the picturesque setting, racing is currently on hold due to unfavorable weather, prompting the PRO to cancel today’s races. Tomorrow, however, brings the promise of 3 to 5 races, depending on conditions.

Defending champion Tom Gillard prepares to reclaim his title, having won last year at Lake Como. But with unpredictable weather patterns, his chances may hang in the balance. The last visit to Quiberon in 2010 saw Paul Ellis claim victory, but with only Mark Lee from that event in attendance now, history could repeat itself or take a new turn in 2026.

As the sailors await their next challenge, anticipation builds for what’s to come in this prestigious competition.
