Trent McDuffie secures a historic contract with the Los Angeles Rams, becoming the NFL's highest-paid cornerback. Just four days after the Rams trade for him, McDuffie agrees to a four-year, $124 million extension, with $100 million guaranteed. This deal sets records for total value, guaranteed money, and average annual value at $31 million, surpassing Sauce Gardner's previous mark of $30.1 million.
The Rams acquired McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, giving up four draft picks, including a first-rounder in 2026. McDuffie, 25, is a two-time All-Pro and played a pivotal role in Kansas City's back-to-back Super Bowl victories. Despite a knee injury limiting him last season, he allowed just 342 yards and three touchdowns on 37 receptions. The Rams look to bolster their struggling secondary, which ranked 19th in passing defense last season. The trade becomes official with the new league year on Wednesday.
