Registration kicks off for the 2026 SB20 World Championship, promising an epic showdown in Hyères this October. Fans can expect a thrilling event from October 19 to 24, set against a backdrop of challenging winds and a storied racecourse.
Hyères has a rich history with the SB20 class, featuring memorable championships in 2013 and 2019. The 2013 event showcased exhilarating high-speed duels fueled by the famous Mistral winds, while 2019 tested teams' patience with unpredictable conditions. The Race Committee's success during that championship continues to set a benchmark for future events.
Two titans return to the fray: Jerry Hill (GBR) and Michael Cooper (AUS). Hill, a two-time World Champion, reunites with his legendary 2010 crew, Joe Llewellyn and Grant Rollerson, after a long hiatus from the international scene. Hill expresses excitement about racing together again with a brand-new Devoti boat.
On the other side, Cooper aims for redemption after narrowly losing to Hill in 2017. He is back with a mission, having recently crowned the SB20 Australian Nationals. Cooper emphasizes that competing in Hyères is a crucial step toward his goal—placing an Australian boat atop the world stage. The stage is set for an unforgettable championship.
