Jefferson Poirot and Yannick Bru are suspended for the Champions Cup semi-final. Stay with us to understand the consequences of these sanctions on Union Bordeaux-Bègles.
The Disciplinary Commission of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby has come down hard. Jefferson Poirot, UBB's prop, has received a two-week suspension after being shown an orange card in the last Top 14 match against Montpellier. This dangerous tackle costs him his ticket to the European semi-final against Bath, as well as the Top 14 match against Aviron Bayonnais on May 9. He won't be able to play again until May 10.
Yannick Bru, UBB's manager, is also facing a two-week suspension. His disrespect towards an official during the match against Stade Rochelais prohibits him from coaching his team from the sidelines for the next two matches. This situation is all the more delicate as UBB, the reigning European champions, must confront major challenges. In addition to the suspensions, the club has been fined 10,000 euros, suspended. The outlook darkens for UBB, which needs to bounce back quickly.
