Kolbe, the double Rugby World Cup winner, left the Stormers in 2017 for Toulouse, where he clinched two Top 14 titles and a Champions Cup. After a stint at RC Toulon, he joined Suntory Sungoliath in 2023, signing a contract through the 2026/27 season. Despite the Stormers’ interest, Kolbe's agency, Roc Nation Sports International, confirms he will honor his current deal.
Michael Yormark, RNSI president, states Kolbe is thriving in Japan, earning multiple Player of the Match awards and integrating well into the community. He emphasizes that, while Kolbe is focused on his time in Japan, a future move to Cape Town remains a consideration for him and his family post-World Cup.
