Leinster has made a shocking decision by dropping Ciaran Frawley from the squad for Saturday’s United Rugby Championship quarter-final against the Lions. Despite being the standout performer in last weekend's Investec Champions Cup Final against Bordeaux-Begles, Frawley is out of the 23-man lineup selected by head coach Leo Cullen.
Sam Prendergast takes over as starting number 10, with Harry Byrne moving to the bench. In a notable change, James Lowe is recalled for his 100th cap with Leinster, having equaled Shane Horgan’s all-time try-scoring record of 69 tries in his last match. Lowe replaces Rieko Ioane, who shifts to midfield.
Tommy O’Brien and Garry Ringrose are also absent, with Jimmy O’Brien starting on the wing and Robbie Henshaw on the bench. Hugo Keenan continues at full-back, while Jamie Osborne partners Ioane at center.
In the pack, Caelan Doris captains from number eight, supported by flankers Max Deegan and Scott Penny. Tadhg Furlong returns to the starting lineup, joining Andrew Porter and Dan Sheehan in the front row. Joe McCarthy and James Ryan hold the second-row, while RG Snyman remains sidelined.
Kick-off is set for Saturday at 20:00 IRE & UK time at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
