Tana Umaga joins the All Blacks coaching staff as the new defence coach under head coach Dave Rennie. He teams up with Mike Blair, overseeing the attack, and Neil Barnes, the senior assistant coach. Umaga, a former All Blacks captain with 74 Test caps, is eager for the challenge. “It’s a huge honour and a privilege,” he states. He shares the excitement with his wife but kept the news close until officially signed. Umaga emphasizes that he does not take his legacy for granted. “I’m never one to assume,” he says, acknowledging the changes within the team since his playing days. He focuses on adding value and supporting Rennie's vision as they move forward together.
