Ingate, affectionately known as 'Wingnut' or 'Wingy,' celebrated his centenary last month surrounded by family and friends at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. His illustrious sailing career began at just nine years old and spanned decades, including the 1948 and 1952 Olympics—though he only competed in 1972 due to work commitments.

Known for his adventurous spirit, Ingate's journey included racing in the inaugural Sydney Hobart and becoming a fixture at the Sydney Harbour Regatta. His remarkable achievements also included being Rear Commodore of the CYCA in 1965 and his enduring connection to the sport remained strong until his last days.
