Marcos Sirota's Sophia dominates the IMA Caribbean Maxi Multihull Series, showcasing her prowess across all four events. This performance highlights the growing competition in the maxi multihull fleet and what it means for upcoming races.
Sophia, a 63ft trimaran, not only won two multihull class races but also secured podium finishes in every event, including the Caribbean Multihull Challenge, RORC Caribbean 600, St Maarten Heineken Regatta, and the BVI Spring Regatta. Defending champions, the Nisbet family's Gunboat 72 Layla, finished third, narrowly edged out by Rich McKinney's Gunboat 68 Little Wing for second place.
Originally launched in 2010 as Paradox, Sophia has a rich racing history in the Caribbean. Sirota, who acquired her in October 2025, brings a wealth of experience from racing smaller trimarans. "This year was absolutely incredible," Sirota states, highlighting the trimaran's speed, reaching 29 knots during the Caribbean 600.
As the maxi multihull fleet turns its attention to the IMA Mediterranean Maxi Multihull Challenge, excitement builds for the Tre Golfi Multihull Trophy and other events scheduled through the season, including the new Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille. The competition is heating up, promising thrilling races ahead.
