Hosted by the NSW Optimist Association, the championship features competitors from across the East Coast, including a strong Queensland contingent. Classes range from Optimist Green Fleet to 49er, with Sydney’s winter conditions providing ideal racing winds of 6 to 15 knots. Race officials successfully complete a full schedule, all while dolphins frolic nearby and seaplanes buzz overhead.
The regatta transforms Woollahra Sailing Club into a vibrant hub, with families and supporters enjoying the festive atmosphere. Notably, 20 Optimist Green Fleet sailors compete in their first major regatta, showcasing the grassroots strength of the sport.
