Italy's TAKI 4, led by Niccolò Bertola, dominates the second event of the 2026 Melges 24 European Sailing Series, securing a decisive victory. This result not only highlights their skill but also sets the stage for the remainder of the season.
Over the weekend at Yacht Club Adriaco in Trieste, excellent sailing conditions allowed the fleet to complete seven races, with TAKI 4 showcasing remarkable consistency and speed. The team clinched a clean sweep of all three races on Saturday, solidifying their lead. They discarded a tenth-place finish as their worst result, illustrating their dominance.
Paolo Brescia's MELGINA, competing as the Corinthian team, finished second overall, ten points behind TAKI 4, despite a strong start on the opening day. Hungary's CHINOOK, helmed by Ákos Csoltó, took third place, just one point behind MELGINA.
The regatta also awarded the prestigious Coppa Tito Nordio, now in the hands of TAKI 4, moving from Paolo Brescia's Yacht Club Italiano to Circolo Nautico Ugo Costaguta. In the Corinthian division, MELGINA claimed first place, with CHINOOK and AKUA rounding out the podium. Britain's ZHIK RACE TEAM, the reigning Corinthian World Champions, finished seventh overall.
