The Houston Texans just made a historic move, signing star defensive end Will Anderson Jr. to a groundbreaking three-year, $150 million contract extension. This deal sets a new record for non-quarterbacks with an average annual value of $50 million and includes a staggering $134 million guaranteed, along with a no-trade clause.
Anderson, a two-time Pro Bowler and the 2023 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, secured his first All-Pro honor in 2025, achieving career highs with 12.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 54 combined tackles. He also shined in the postseason, recording 3.5 sacks in two games, marking his second straight year of playoff excellence.
Pro Football Focus highlights Anderson's dominance, with him ranking first among edge defenders for hurries at 70 and third for total pressures at 93 in 2025. Over the past two seasons, he has averaged 11.5 sacks per year, reinforcing his status as a defensive powerhouse.
The Texans, who traded up to draft Anderson third overall in 2023 after an impressive collegiate career at Alabama, are fresh off a 12-5 season. They clinched the AFC South title for a third straight year, although they faced another early postseason exit in the AFC divisional round.
