After a day off, racing resumed under ideal conditions, with winds blowing at 15 knots from 115 degrees. The competition enters a pivotal phase, with the top 50 percent of sailors now in contention. The stakes are higher as they vie for spots in the Medal Race Series, set for Saturday, May 23rd.
The day kicks off with three Course Racing events, transitioning to Sprint Racing, which tests the fleet's versatility and delivers thrilling action on the water. In the Women’s fleet, Israel's Tamar Steinberg (ISR 216) retains her lead after a solid performance, including a race victory in the final contest. China’s Wenqi Li (CHN 17) secures second place, while Norway's Maya Gysler (NOR 21) holds third. Israel's Shahar Tibi (ISR 3) climbs to fourth after a strong comeback.
In the Men’s fleet, Luuc Van Opzeeland (NED 55) stays on top, overcoming a UFD penalty with a race win. Australia’s Grae Morris (AUS 81) rises to second, and Denmark's Johan Søe (DEN 37) remains in third as competition intensifies.
