Tom Dolan returns to competition on March 9 at the Solo Guy Cotten in Concarneau, kicking off the 2026 Figaro season. This race marks his first major event since retiring from last year’s Solitaire du Figaro due to a forearm injury. Dolan has called Concarneau home for years, making this race a critical early test. Despite severe weather disruptions in his pre-season training, he feels mentally and physically ready. “You could nearly say this is my comeback. I’m excited, and really not that stressed,” says Dolan. The Solo Guy Cotten features 45 boats, one of the largest fleets in recent years, with several high-profile sailors returning after IMOCA campaigns. The race includes two inshore races followed by a 48-hour offshore leg. Challenging conditions lie ahead, with light winds expected initially, then increasing to 30 knots later in the week. Dolan aims for a strong performance as he launches his 2026 campaign.
