Aston Martin surprised everyone by dominating the Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2026, an event that often sets the stage for the battles to come. This unexpected success could shake things up in the Hypercar category, revealing fiercer competition than ever. That's exactly what we follow here every day — join the channel if you haven't already.
From the start of the day, the 18 Hypercars took off on the Sarthe circuit. Early in the afternoon, it was the Alpine n°35 with Charles Milesi that set the pace, quickly followed by Norman Nato on the Cadillac n°12. But it was Tom Gamble who, with a lap time of 3'26"293, pushed the Aston Martin Valkyrie into the lead, marking a performance to watch. The ideal conditions, with an ambient temperature of 20°C and a track temperature of 33°C, allowed the teams to maximize their running.
Despite a few minor incidents, including a collision involving Ryo Hirakawa from Toyota and a off-track moment for Alessandro Pier Guidi from Ferrari, the reliability of the cars proved to be solid. By the end of the day, the top 10 were separated by just one second, hinting at a very tight competition for the week ahead.
