The 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will mark a decisive advancement for motorsport with the debut of the Toyota TR LH2 Racing Prototype hydrogen-powered prototype and the Alpine Alpenglow. This demonstration, scheduled for the double-header event, embodies the growing commitment to sustainable technologies in motorsport.
The event is not just a mere showcase; it reveals the deep ambitions of the MissionH24 program, launched in 2018 to promote hydrogen in racing. Two demonstration sessions are planned for June 11 and 13, where the cars will depart from Maison Blanche to make runs in front of the famous pit straight. The first run will bring together the Toyota, which uses liquid hydrogen, and the Alpine, which favors a gaseous solution, illustrating the divergent technical choices of the two manufacturers.
This focus on hydrogen is further amplified by the inauguration of the "Hydrogen Village" on June 10, in the presence of Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO. Roundtable discussions at the M24 Museum will complement this initiative, laying the groundwork for a future where hydrogen could become an essential pillar of endurance racing.
