The session kicked off chaotically, with limited green-flag time in the first half-hour. Nyck de Vries, Kobayashi’s teammate, spun at the Dunlop chicane, causing a full-course yellow flag. Other incidents, including a stalled #44 Proton Oreca and issues for the #22 United Autosports LMP2, added to the tension. Brendon Hartley initially set the pace for the #8 Toyota, but reigning champion Robert Kubica briefly took the lead in the #83 Ferrari 499P.
Filipe Albuquerque then pushed forward, only for Kubica to reclaim the top spot at 3m26.316s. With 30 minutes remaining, another full-course yellow interrupted the session. Ultimately, Kobayashi returned to the track and surged ahead with a final lap of 3m26.329s, securing the top position. The #83 Ferrari settled for second, while the #101 WTR Cadillac finished third. The session concluded with the #36 Alpine A424 in fourth and the #12 Cadillac in fifth.
