Spring conditions bring thrilling racing at the Henri-Lloyd Warsash Spring Championship, with over 50 boats battling it out. Here’s why this weekend’s races could shift the momentum for many competitors.

On Saturday, PROs Peter Bateson and Katheryn Clarke orchestrate an exciting day with strong Solent tides for races 3 and 4. Initial forecasts for Sunday looked bleak, but competitors are greeted with unexpected winds starting at 10 knots and settling at 5 knots. The tricky northerly breeze challenges even seasoned sailors, making tactical decisions crucial.

In the IRC Black Group, Tim Webb's Swan 45 Luna leads after a strong showing, with Checkmate XX dropping down after missing Sunday’s races. In IRC 2, John Smart’s Jukebox maintains a solid position, while Steve Butters' JPX 1010 stands as the highest non-J boat in fifth. Class 3 sees Sam Laidlaw's BLT take the lead, with Duncan Peace's Pacifist in second.

Meanwhile, the White Group features fierce competition among SB20s, with just one point separating Mark Gillett's PB11 Twenty from Charles Whelan's Reservoir Bod. The excitement continues next weekend, with the Performance 30 and 40 classes joining the fray.
