Colombian superstar Shakira is set to ignite the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico. This performance marks the debut of her official World Cup song, "Dai Dai," alongside Burna Boy on June 11 at Estadio Azteca. This event kicks off the tournament’s first match between Mexico and South Africa, scheduled for 20:00 BST.
"Dai Dai," an Italian phrase translating to "let's go," embodies the vibrant spirit of the tournament. In addition to Shakira and Burna Boy, the lineup includes Colombian reggaeton sensation J Balvin and South African artist Tyla, promising a spectacular show.
Opening ceremonies will also take place in the USA and Canada, where Canadian icons Michael Buble and Alanis Morissette will perform at BMO Field in Toronto on June 12, before Canada faces Bosnia and Herzegovina. Meanwhile, Katy Perry and Future will take the stage in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium for the USA's clash against Paraguay.
Looking ahead, Shakira will share the spotlight with Madonna and K-pop sensation BTS for a Super Bowl-style halftime show at the World Cup final on July 19. This musical lineup amplifies the excitement as the tournament approaches, highlighting the global celebration of football.
