World Sailing opens applications for the Women in Sport High Performance Pathway (WISH) Programme. This initiative aims to boost female representation in elite sport coaching at Olympic and World Championship levels. Launched as a pilot in 2019, WISH, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity, equips women coaches with essential skills and leadership competencies. The programme targets female coaches involved or poised to join national teams for major events, addressing the 13% representation of women coaches in most sports. Over 125 women from 22 sports and 60 countries have benefitted from WISH, gaining access to mentoring and international networks. The 21-month pathway includes leadership sessions, online modules, and experiential learning, designed to enhance coaching expertise. Fiona Kidd emphasizes this opportunity as crucial for developing future women leaders in sport. Nominations for the 2026 cohort are now open.
