Lancia secures its first WRC2 victory in 33 years, marking a powerful comeback to the World Rally Championship. This win in Croatia showcases the potential of the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale and sets the stage for future successes.
After a lackluster debut in Monte Carlo, where both Lancia drivers, Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin, faced early crashes, the team rebounded impressively. Rossel delivered a flawless performance, clinching first place, while Gryazin finished third despite a minor technical setback. This marks Lancia's first podium since 1994 and their first victory since Andrea Aghini won Rally Sanremo in 1992.
Lancia Corse team principal Didier Clement expressed confidence in the team's performance, highlighting the reliability and speed of the Ypsilon HF Integrale. He emphasized that a one-two finish was within reach, hinting at what’s to come as they prepare for the upcoming Canary Islands Rally.
Rossel’s victory places him alongside legendary Lancia drivers, and he acknowledges the significance of this moment for the brand’s return to the top of the WRC podium. Lancia's resurgence signals a thrilling new chapter in their motorsport history.
