UpWind by MerConcept has successfully completed a dynamic first half of the Ocean Fifty Series, securing a pivotal qualification for the Route du Rhum. This achievement positions skipper Anne-Claire Le Berre as the only woman competing in the trimaran class at the prestigious transatlantic race this November. If you’re interested in the evolving landscape of offshore racing, stay tuned for the insights behind this remarkable journey.

Facing a fleet of cutting-edge trimarans, the all-female crew demonstrated impressive progress, finishing 7th in Sainte-Maxime and 6th in Ajaccio. Le Berre noted, “The raw results don’t tell the full story,” emphasizing the team’s dedication and technical prowess, especially against newer, faster vessels. Their sixth-place finish in Ajaccio, ahead of a brand-new boat, marks a significant accomplishment.

Beyond racing, UpWind by MerConcept is committed to making offshore sailing more inclusive. They hosted four Olympic athletes from Germany, Greece, and Guatemala, providing them with firsthand experience of offshore racing. Cristina Castellanos from Guatemala expressed gratitude for the opportunity, highlighting the broader horizons of sailing beyond the Olympics.

Anne-Claire Le Berre and her team continue to inspire the next generation, paving the way for a more diverse future in offshore racing.
