More than 40 boats and hundreds of sailors from the Caribbean, U.S., and Europe prepare for the 52nd St. Thomas International Regatta (STIR), April 3-5, 2026. This flagship regatta of the U.S. Virgin Islands promises intense competition and vibrant beachside festivities.

The fleet includes core spinnaker and non-spinnaker racing classes, plus unique elements like the Caribbean’s largest IC24 class and Hobie Waves for newcomers. Sunfish sailors use the event as a warm-up for November's Worlds in St. Croix. Competitors race on professionally set courses with real-time online scoring.

Pat Bailey, co-director of STIR 2026, encourages sailors to join the excitement. Entry fees are $340, with discounts for IC24s ($240), Hobie Waves ($150), and Sunfish ($75). Registration is open at yachtscoring.com/emenu/50483.

For an extra day of racing, participants can enter the Round the Rocks Race, which circles St. John.

The STIR line-up features CSA Spinnaker Racing, CSA Non-Spinnaker Racing, and three One-Design Classes. Notable entry includes Donald Nicholson’s J/121, Apollo, fresh off a win at the BVI Spring Regatta. The IC24 class, the largest at STIR, includes the 2025 IC24 Class Champion, Stinger, helmed by Teddy Nicolosi.
