Day two of the 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels sees the Nacra 17 Mixed Multihull fleet led by Swedish duo Emile Järudd and Hanna Jonsson. The 2023 World Championship bronze medallists dominate with four race wins out of six, holding a 12-point lead over Argentine pair Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco, and fellow Swedes Ida Svensson and Marcus Dackhammer.
Järudd praises their strategy despite challenging offshore winds, noting, "We are still sailing smart and fast." The pair has benefited from extensive training in Cagliari with other top teams. In the Women's 49er FX, Holland’s Odile Lambriex van Aaanholt returns to competition after maternity leave, sailing with Marissa Ijben. She shares her excitement, stating, "It's overwhelming to be back... I really love it so much."
With the regatta in full swing, the forecast suggests a potential return to the Bay of Palma's steady sea breezes later in the week. As the competition heats up, the athletes remain focused on their goals ahead of Saturday's finale.
