Derek Chisora prepares for his 50th and final fight against Deontay Wilder this Saturday. Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) believes his popularity will soar as fans get to know him better. Known for his controversial career, he says, “Human beings are difficult to please. If they don’t know somebody, they hate that person.”
Chisora recalls how he transformed from being booed to earning admiration. His vibrant personality shines this week, with antics like playing musical chairs with fans to give away tickets and arriving at a press conference on a tank. He warns Wilder he plans to start the fight so quickly it won't go the distance.
At 42, Chisora insists this is his swansong, regardless of the outcome. A victory might open doors for a title shot, but he looks forward to dedicating time to his family. He’s organizing a “massive” Easter egg hunt for his two daughters this Sunday.
As he anticipates his last ring walk at The O2, Chisora acknowledges, “Yeah, it will happen again. 100%.” Emotions will run high as he bids farewell to the boxing world, a journey marked by ups and downs, but ultimately one of resilience and character.
