Eddie Hearn is set to meet with Croke Park officials this week to finalize a deal for Katie Taylor’s last fight at the iconic Dublin venue. This comes as Taylor, the two-weight undisputed champion with a record of 25-1 and 6 KOs, prepares to retire this year, aiming for a grand farewell in front of her home fans.
Hearn dismisses any notion of Taylor fighting on the undercard of the anticipated Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua bout. He firmly states, “Over my dead body, is Katie Taylor going on the undercard of any card at Croke Park.” Hearn is adamant that Taylor deserves the spotlight as the main event.
While discussions around Fury vs. Joshua continue, with a potential outdoor fight in November, Croke Park seems to be sidelined for that matchup. Hearn is focused solely on securing Taylor's fight, having expressed frustration over the idea of her sharing the card.
No opponent is confirmed for Taylor yet, but notable names like unified lightweight champion Caroline Dubois and Lauren Price are in the mix. Dubois’ promoter suggested a clash at Croke Park would be the perfect finale for Taylor’s illustrious career. The stage is set for a historic event in Irish boxing.
