Bruce Meyer is the new executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, elected in a unanimous vote. He takes over from Tony Clark, who resigned after an internal investigation into an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, hired as a union employee. Clark is also under federal investigation regarding the union’s finances. Meyer, previously the MLBPA deputy executive director since 2022, has been with the union since 2018 and led negotiations in the last collective bargaining agreement. He plans to resume that role following Clark’s exit. “Everything’s up to the players, but I don’t anticipate that anybody’s going to be leading negotiations other than me,” Meyer stated. He becomes the sixth director in MLBPA history. This is a developing story.
