Tony Clark resigns as executive director of the MLB Players Association. The MLBPA is currently without a leader, but a decision could come as soon as Wednesday. The executive board of player representatives met Tuesday to discuss next steps but did not vote on a successor. Player representative John Schreiber anticipates a new executive director by day’s end. Clark stepped down following an internal investigation into an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who was hired in 2023. A separate federal investigation into his handling of finances continues. Bruce Meyer, the MLBPA’s deputy executive director, emerges as a strong candidate but remains non-committal about pursuing the position. Meyer expects to continue as lead negotiator amid looming labor challenges. The new executive director will be chosen by the 72-member executive board, which includes player representatives and minor league positions.
