The 5th Cascais J/70 Winter Series - Easter Cup wraps up with intense competition from 21 teams across 9 nations. This event serves as a crucial lead-up to the 2026 J/70 World Championship.
Day 1 kicks off with a late start due to calm winds, but the Race Committee successfully launches four races amid shifting breezes and strong currents. Vasco Serpa on SailCascais dominates the first race, followed closely by Diogo Rodrigues Pereira on Navis Portugal and Tiago Morais on Another Affair. Morais finds his rhythm in Race 2, securing a win, while Nuno Espírito Santo Silva on Bábá takes Race 3. Diego Guardamino on Wilco claims victory in the fourth race, but it’s Morais and Another Affair who emerge as the overall leaders after Day 1.
Day 2 sees racing halted due to winds exceeding 40 knots, forcing the fleet to stay ashore. The final day promises better conditions, but the anticipation remains high as teams prepare for what could be a decisive conclusion to the series.
Standings after Day 1:
1st POR 1282 - Another Affair (Tiago Morais)
2nd POR 1797 - Bábá (Nuno Espírito Santo Silva)
3rd POR 1 - UON (José Caldeira)
Stay tuned as the series unfolds towards the world championship!
