Eleven Finns clash in a thrilling showdown at the British Finn Spring Series 2026, held at Itchenor Sailing Club. Here’s why Tim Carver's victory could reshape the competitive landscape moving forward.
On a sunny Saturday, competitors faced a light 8-12 knot north-westerly breeze in Chichester Harbour. The first race kicked off with a strong flooding tide, favoring the committee boat end. Mike de Courcy took an early lead, closely followed by Tim Carver. As the races progressed, Richard Sharp showcased his skill by winning the second race after finding pressure on the left side of the course.
By the third race, Richard secured another win, demonstrating his adaptability to the challenging conditions. The final race saw a shift in tactics as Tim Carver ultimately claimed victory, with David McGregor impressively returning to a Finn after years away.
The overall results crown Tim Carver as the 2026 Spring Champion, winning the Richard Creagh-Osbourne silver trophy. He is followed by Dan Dixon in second and Richard Sharp in third. Notably, newcomer Tom Thirkettle finishes strong, earning fifth place in the final race. The event wraps up a successful Spring Series, featuring 22 competitors and plenty of fierce racing.
