Cadex confirms the failure stemmed from Capiot riding on a flat tyre over cobblestones, hitting a hole while traveling at 47/48kph. Their statement aligns with Team Jayco AlUla’s post-race comments, emphasizing that the wheel's structural failure, not the hookless rim design, caused the tyre separation. Cadex states, “Prolonged riding on the cobblestones with a flat tyre caused the rim to crack.” The breakdown led to the spokes displacing and ultimately the collapse of the wheel.
