Christophe Laporte's hopes for the Tour de France are dashed once again as he suffers a quadriceps tear in a training crash. This injury marks the second consecutive year he will miss the prestigious race, forcing him to focus on recovery instead.
Laporte's team, Visma-Lease a Bike, announced he requires significant healing time, sidelining him from training for the foreseeable future. While the need for surgery remains unconfirmed, the team's commitment to his full recovery is clear. This setback also means Laporte will not participate in the Tour de l’Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, a key preparatory event for the Tour de France.
The 33-year-old expressed his disappointment, highlighting his strong performance in the Spring Classics and eagerness to compete in the Tour. "I was really looking forward to the upcoming races," he stated. Laporte has a solid history with the Tour, having started ten times and winning a stage in 2022.
After a tough 2025 season impacted by a cytomegalovirus, Laporte showed signs of recovery with impressive finishes, including a third place at In Flanders Fields. However, his ongoing struggles raise concerns about his consistency and future participation in major events.
