Fears rise for Saturday's key mountain stage of Paris-Nice due to severe weather forecasts. Snow and plunging temperatures are expected in the Alpes-Maritimes region, particularly at the Auron ski station. Conditions may prompt cancellation or significant alterations to the route.
Historically, bad weather disrupts Paris-Nice. In 2024, Auron’s debut was scrapped in favor of La Madone d’Utelle, while in 2025, the stage to Auron faced radical cuts, shrinking from 147.8 kilometers to 109. Two climbs were removed, and freezing rain earlier in 2025 led to a race neutralization.
The Saturday stage, a brisk 137.8 kilometers starting in Nice, features challenging early climbs before tackling the 1,614-meter Mount Auron. The day’s forecast raises concerns for riders and fans alike.
